The United Republic of Tanzania (URT),
lies south of the equator, and is located on the eastern side of the African continent. The Tanzanian
mainland is divided into several clearly defined regions: the coastal plains, which have lush tropical
vegetation, a high plateau in the southern area, and the Masai Steppe in the north.
cities are Arusha, Dar Es Saalam and Kilimanjaro.
Arusha is the gateway to Serengeti, lake Manyara Tarangire and Arusha National Parks,
and the Ngorongoro conservation area. It is the Safari capital of Tanzania.
Dar es Saalam is Tanzania's premier city. The 'Haven of Peace' started life as a fishing
village in the mid 19th century, and is today a safe port and the countries eastern commercial center.
Kilimanjaro snow-capped and yet not extinct, Mount Kilimanjaro at 5895m (19335ft)
is Africa's highest mountain, and a major attraction for all tourists to Tanzania. It is a traveller's
dream to climb the summit, through one of the three routes: the Marangu, the machame or the mweka. Watch
dawn break, and gaze over a truly great expanse of bushland. Please contact us for the best rates to climb
Kilimanjaro via any of the routes.
Zanzibar - the world's oldest and sexiest Spice Girl. Trading under the name Spice
Island, this paradise off Tanzania's north coast has lured travellers for centuries. The old Stone
Town of Zanzibar is one of the most fascinating places on the east coast. There are endless little
shops, bazaars, mosques, courtyards and fortresses, two former
sultans' palaces, two huge cathedrals, faded colonial mansions,
a disused Persian-style public bathhouse and a quite bizarre collection of foreign consulates.
A 'Spice Tour' is recommended.
